Dr. Suresh Kumar Jindal is a distinguished telecommunications scientist of national repute with outstanding contributions in the area of satellite communication (C-Band, Extended C-Band, Ku Band, S-Band for stationary and mobile communication), Optical Fibre Communication, HF communication, VLF communication.He completed his B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Thapar University, Patiala, and obtained M.Tech in Telecommunications from IIT Kharagpur. He completed his Phd in the area of MIMO satellite communication.
In his career in Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), spanning over more than three decades, he has made distinguished contributions in designing and setting up various communication systems and networks exclusively based on indigenous technologies for the nation. He was the architect of communication on the move which was first of its kind in the country.
He has headedand contributed tovarious programmesof national importance (like communication networks for Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP)) for fulfilling the Strategic Communication requirements of the country. He played a key role in the design, development, fabrication, evaluation, testing and trials of command and control networks which is used in the storage, movement, and firing of missiles like Prithvi, Dhanush, Agni-I, II, III, IV, V and other weapons of strategic use for national security.
In line with the government focus to engage students, researchers, academicians and universities in the exchange and spread of scientific ideas, he played a key role as Director, DRDO in planning, organizing and conducting international conferences in the area of science and technology. These international conferences led to the generation of volumes of scientific literature which has been corroborated by Limca book of records.
He has been honored with numerous awards for his outstanding contributions to DRDO/ nationwhich include Atmaram Award from the President of India for the scientific and technological development in the field of scientific literature and tools for task, VigyanBhaskar Award for remarkable contribution in the area of strategic communication, Popular Science Communication Award of DRDO from the Defence Minister of India, Web Ratna Award from the Minister of Communication and IT, Special award for strategic contribution from the Prime Minister of India, National Technology Award by Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister.
He has more than 70 technical reports and research papers to his credit and has co-authored 3 books and edited more than 14 books and 7 Monographs. These achievements go a long way in demonstrating his technical excellence and leadership. He is a fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Delhi and member of various professional bodies in India.
